In order to coach you effectively we recognize that a large part of our responsibility is to direct you towards a better understanding of how dogs think and learn. Dog obedience training will give both you and your dog an anxiety free relationship.

We pride ourselves in our ability to teach others to communicate with their dog in a manner that makes sense not only to you, but to your dog as well. We have a proven methodology will open the doorway to a whole new learning experience while you gain a new appreciation of why dogs behave in certain ways and more importantly, what role you may be playing in contributing to your dog’s behavior.

If your dog may be experiencing symptoms of reactive behavior we will gladly give your dog private or in home dog training to help them through their fears and anxiety in a setting familiar to them. Other dogs will feel at home in our group classes which give them a chance to socialize with other dogs.

Joanna, owner and operator of FLOPPS, is an an experienced dog trainer who is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer CPDT-KA, ABCDT and has her CPR and Pet First Aid and teaches you how to get the best out of your dog by giving you the tools to help achieve your goals. Joanna uses force free dog training, employing reward, praise and play along with scientifically proven dog training methods. Helping people with their dogs is Joanna's passion. She keeps her skills sharp staying abreast of the latest in pet training by studying leaders in the training world. Joanna has first hand experience training reactive dogs. Her dog Bear started out as a dog that was reactive towards people. She has helped him work through his issues and fears building his confidence so he was able to pass his Canine Good Neighbour CKC test!

FLOPPS believes that no two dogs are alike and customizes dog behavior training programs specific to your dog’s needs so he can reach his greatest potential.

Course Description:

Introduction to varying degrees distractions to teach your dog to pay attention to you in many situations
Introduction to dog body language to better understand your dog
Acquiring and working towards generalizing and proofing basic commands such as but not limited to:

  • settle; increase level of distractions
  • sit; increase distance and level of distractions
  • down; increase distance and level of distractions
  • loose leash walking; lengthening distance and level of distractions
  • stay; increase time, distance and level of distractions
  • focus; increase level of distractions
  • come; lengthening distance and level of distractions
  • off/no jump; increase level of distractions
  • stand
  • wait
  • take it
  • leave it
  • drop it
  • relax

Addressing common dog problem behaviour such as but not limited to:

  • jumping up
  • impulse control
  • pulling on leash
  • barking
